Note on December 31 certification deadline:

Please be aware that Alaska, Michigan, and the entire New England District will NOT recognize any online certification completed after December 31 of the current playing season. Please refer to your Affiliate website or contact your District Coach in Chief for more information on this certification deadline.

Certifications completed between January 1 and April 30 by coaches in the above districts will be "held" until May 1 and applied to the next clinic season. The certification will be added to the USA Hockey database and a sticker will be sent out after that date.

USA Hockey Offers Level 3 Coaches Online Recertification

The USA Hockey Coaching Education Program and flexxCOACH, an e-learning company specializing in youth sports, are pleased to offer online recertification for Level 3 USA Hockey-registered coaches.

The USA Hockey Coaching Education Program offers five levels of certification, from the introductory Level 1 to the most advanced Level 5. All coaches must be certified at the appropriate level for the particular age group with which they are coaching. After attaining Level 1 certification, coaches have three seasons to attend a Level 2 certification clinic and then have three subsequent seasons to achieve Level 3 status, depending on the level of play they are coaching. After reaching Level 3, coaches shall do one of the following within three seasons (you may complete any of these options even if your certification is expired, please refer to the Coaches FAQ for clarification):

1. Move up and attend a Level 4 clinic
2. Attend another Level 3 clinic
3. Attend a specialized USA Hockey clinic/workshop
4. Participate in the On-Line Recertification Program

Now, with flexxCOACH, Level 3 coaches have the additional option of recertifying online instead of attending a clinic in-person. The online recertification will include:

• a video presentation from a high-level coach
• on- and off-ice instructional video footage
• animated drills
• a course workbook and a series of test questions related to the presentation

Each coach will be required to view six presentations (four mandated, two electives) during the online recertification session. The program will take 6-8 hours and you can stop after each presentations and go back at another time.

The introduction of the online recertification will provide Level 3 USA Hockey-registered coaches with a new degree of convenience, accessibility and education, which will enrich their learning experience.

The cost of this program is $55.
